Office Retreat at ‘La Ipsing Farm’ – Dec’19

The first time since we started the office in 2007, we were able to go and spend a night in a lovely farm out of Gangtok with the entire office. I had wanted to organise something like this for a long time but, the logistics proved too daunting so, it never materialised. This time, all thanks should go to Jyoti – our office manager, and all rounder, she pulled the entire thing off with help from the office architects and interns. We missed Hishay, Aditya and Raju – who could not join us for personal reasons.

We decided to visit La Ipsing Farm, located in Samdong around 1.5 hours from Gangtok. It is owned by a dear friend Mahesh Chhetri who runs an idyllic retreat in the rural countryside of Sikkim. He had recently put it up for short term rentals and I requested him if my entire office could come over and stay at his place for a night. Although his place could comfortably accommodate 9, we were around 17 in total. We were flexible enough to adjust and Mahesh as accommodating enough to permit us.

The farm is located amidst lush vegetation and large open playfields all around – ideal for us to spread out and play outdoors. Some of us took walks to the greenhouses where different varieties of capsicum, bok choy and other exotic vegetables grew while others sat around cooking and hanging out.

By dusk, the bonfires took over, the music got louder and soon, people began to dance their inhibitions away. The next day, the party continued till we all left the place around 3:30pm. A memorable time together, it was well deserved break after all the hard work that was put into the projects at the office – a befitting thank you and farewell to the interns and 2019.
